Whether or not to use treated lumber to build your garden bed/planter is a controversial topic. Overall, it depends on the type of chemical used to treat the lumber. Many manufacturers use a ACQ or CCA solution, which contains arsenic (ACQ did until 2003, but now contains a high level of copper instead).
