Summer has quickly come to an end and we’re beginning to make the transition into cool, fall weather. In Michigan, the air is crisp. Leaves are turning color. And—new this year—people in Grand Rapids will get to experience the vibrancy of the season in a vast expansion of one of the nation’s largest urban parks – Millennium Park.
As part of the 50-acre addition, a 570-foot pedestrian boardwalk was added to give visitors a chance to take in the new sights of the park. Constructed using ProWood® lumber for the deck surface, railing and sub-structure, the boardwalk rises approximately 24 feet above ground. The superior treating and limited lifetime warranty made ProWood an easy choice for this extensive project
The families of Peter Secchia, former CEO and chairman of Universal Forest Products, and current Chairman Bill Currie, along with Universal Forest Products, sponsored elements of the park expansion including the William F. Grant Pavilion (named after the first CEO of Universal), The Currie Family Amphitheater and the Employees of Universal Forest Products Boardwalk. These now are added to the park’s existing attractions, which include a six-acre lake with a beach, boat rental facilities, picnic areas, a playground and nearly 20 miles of trails.
